Why there is no single national portal
Property tax in India is administered locally — by municipal corporations, municipal councils, or panchayats — rather than nationally or even state-wide in most cases. Each authority builds and maintains its own digital payment system, which is why the portal name changes completely from city to city.
Major city portals, by name
- Bengaluru: BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) property tax portal.
- Mumbai: BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) property tax portal.
- Delhi: MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) property tax portal.
- Hyderabad: GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) property tax portal.
- Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation property tax portal.
- Pune: PMC (Pune Municipal Corporation) property tax portal.
- Kolkata: KMC (Kolkata Municipal Corporation) property tax portal.
- Kochi: Kochi Municipal Corporation / LSGD portal for Kerala properties.
- Dehradun: Dehradun Nagar Nigam property tax portal.
Bookmark the right one for each property you own
If you own property in more than one city — common for investors and NRIs — the biggest practical risk is simply confusing or forgetting which portal applies to which property. Keep a dedicated record per property, not a general memory of "I pay tax somewhere."
The better long-term fix
Rather than manually tracking which portal applies to which property, propxbills consolidates property tax tracking and payment for every verified propxpraman property into a single dashboard — regardless of which municipal system sits behind it.
